Rencontre avec Jean-Philippe Toussaint

L 'Alliance française vous invite à découvrir l'œuvre de Jean Philippe Toussaint, auteur et réalisateur belge, autour de son roman Fuir, couronné du prix Médicis en 2005 et de son adaptation en un court-métrage.

Après la projection du court-métrage, Jean Philippe Toussaint évoquera la génèse de l'adaptation et ses conditions de tournage.

Jean Philippe Toussaint et Andy Tang (Acteur hongkongais) feront ensuite des lectures croisées de Fuir, en français et en cantonais.

Ces lectures seront suivies d'un débat avec le public…

Jean Philippe Toussaint est un écrivain belge de langue française. Il est également réalisateur. Ses œuvres ont été traduites dans plus de 20 langues. Son roman Fuir a remporté le Prix Médicis en 2005. Son dernier livre La Mélancolie de Zidane (Paris : Minuit, 2006) est un essai lyrique sur le coup de tête porté par Zidane à Materassi pendant la Coupe du monde de football 2006. Un traduction anglaise fut publiée en 2007 dans le journal anglais : « New Formations ».

Alliance Française invites you to discover Jean-philippe Toussaint's work throughout his novel « Fuir » (Prix Médicis 2005) and its adaptation to a short movie.

After the screening of the short-movie, Jean-Philippe Toussaint will “talk about” the genesis of the adaptation of the novel as a short movie and about the “tournage” conditions.

Jean Philippe Toussaint and Andy Tang (Hong Kong Actor) will then read parts of “Fuir” both in Chinese and French.

Those readings will be followed by a question-answer with the audience.

Jean-Philippe Toussaint is a Belgian prose writer and filmmaker. His books have been translated into more than twenty languages and he has had his photographs displayed in Brussels and Japan. Toussaint won the Prix Médicis in 2005 for his novel “Fuir”. His most recent book is “La mélancolie de Zidane” (Paris: Minuit, 2006), a lyrical essay on the headbutt administered by the French football player Zinedine Zidane to the Italian player Marco Materazzi during the 2006 World Cup final in Berlin. An English translation was published in 2007 in the British journal New Formations.
